Convert a Toby export into bookmarks

Updated 18 October 2026

Toby saves collections of tabs in its own account. Drop its JSON export here to get every collection back as a folder of real bookmarks you can import into any browser.

Export your collections from Toby

Choose JSON: it keeps every collection with its cards, custom titles and notes. Toby can also export an HTML bookmarks file, which Chrome imports directly; use this converter when you want a Stackboard board, a spreadsheet, or duplicates cleaned out first.

The converter reads each collection’s title and every card’s URL, title and custom title, and keeps them in Toby’s order.

Import the file into Chrome

  1. Open chrome://bookmarks (or press Ctrl+Shift+O, Cmd+Option+B on a Mac).
  2. Click the three-dot menu at the top right of the Bookmark Manager and choose Import bookmarks.
  3. Pick the .html file you downloaded. Chrome adds everything in a new folder, usually called Imported at the end of your bookmarks bar (look under Other bookmarks if it isn’t there), and your existing bookmarks stay as they are.

Edge, Brave, Firefox and Safari read the same file. Step-by-step versions: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Firefox and Safari.

Or load it straight into Stackboard

Stackboard shows your bookmarks as a board on Chrome’s new tab page. Download the Stackboard backup (.json) above, then open a new tab and go to Settings, Backup, Import JSON. Each folder becomes a stack you can rename, drag and reopen as a tab group, and everything is saved as ordinary Chrome bookmarks.

Questions

Can I export Toby to Excel?

Toby exports JSON, HTML and plain text, with no spreadsheet option. Export JSON, drop it here and choose CSV for Excel or Sheets: one row per card with its collection, title and URL.

Will my Toby spaces become folders?

If your export includes spaces or groups, each one becomes a folder with its collections inside.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The page reads the file with your browser’s own file reader and builds the new file on your computer. You can load the page, turn off Wi-Fi and it still works.

Your bookmarks, on every new tab

Stackboard is a free Chrome extension that lays out your bookmarks as a board on the new tab page. It stores everything as ordinary Chrome bookmarks, with no account.
