How to export and import bookmarks in Brave on a computer, Android or iPhone
On a computer, open Brave’s Bookmark Manager (Ctrl+Shift+O, or brave://bookmarks), click the three-dot More options menu at the top right and choose Export bookmarks. To bring bookmarks in, use the menu > Bookmarks > Import Bookmarks and Settings.
Export bookmarks on Windows, Mac or Linux
- Open the Bookmark Manager: Ctrl+Shift+O on Windows and Linux, Cmd+Option+B on a Mac, or the menu (three lines at the top right) > Bookmarks > Bookmark manager.
- Click More options, the three dots at the top right of the page.
- Choose Export bookmarks and pick where to save the file.
All your bookmarks go into one HTML file that any browser can import. If you use Stackboard in Brave, your board goes with them: its spaces are ordinary bookmarks in Other bookmarks › Stackboard.
Import bookmarks on a computer
- Open the menu and choose Bookmarks (some versions call it Bookmarks and lists) > Import Bookmarks and Settings, or go to
brave://settings/importData. - Pick a browser from the list Brave detected on the computer, or Bookmarks HTML File for an exported file.
- For a browser, tick the data you want and click Import. For a file, click Choose File and select it.
A file goes into a new folder named Imported at the end of the bookmarks bar. If Brave’s bar is empty, the old bar’s bookmarks go straight onto it and the rest into Imported. Import the same file again and you get Imported (1), because the importer doesn’t skip duplicates; our duplicate bookmark finder cleans a file first. A browser import makes a folder whose name starts with Imported from.
Two shortcuts: Import bookmarks in the Bookmark Manager’s More options menu goes straight to the file picker, and the Import bookmarks now... link on an empty bookmarks bar opens the import window. For Safari on a Mac, Brave’s help says to give Brave Full Disk Access in the system privacy settings first. Coming from Chrome? See import bookmarks from Chrome to Brave. The file import takes HTML, so convert a Chrome or Brave Bookmarks JSON file with our JSON to HTML tool first.
Export and import on Android
- Tap the main menu, then Bookmarks.
- Tap the three-dot menu at the top right.
- Choose Export Bookmarks. Brave saves an HTML file on the phone; move it with the phone’s file manager.
To import, choose Import bookmarks in the same menu and pick a bookmarks .html file from any browser. Passwords export on their own: main menu > Brave Password Manager > three dots > Export passwords... saves a CSV file.
Export and import on iPhone and iPad
- In Brave, tap the menu, then Show All..., then Bookmarks.
- Stay at the top level of your bookmarks, as Brave’s help asks.
- Tap the Share icon at the bottom left and choose Export or Import.
Export opens the share sheet: email the HTML file to yourself or save it to Files. Import opens the Files app, so put the .html file in Files first. Neither needs Brave Sync.
Move Brave bookmarks to a new computer
With Brave Sync. There’s no account; your devices join a sync chain. On the old computer, open the menu > Brave Sync, choose Start a new sync chain and pick Computer to get a 24-word code. On the new one, choose Enter a sync chain code. Brave’s help adds that typing the words currently also takes a rotating 25th word, linked from its Sync setup article. Phones scan a QR code. Bookmarks, passwords, history, open tabs and extensions can all sync (on iPhone and iPad, bookmarks only). For a one-time copy, sync once and then leave the chain.
With a file. Export on the old computer, copy the HTML file across and import it on the new one. Skip copying the whole profile folder: Brave’s help says saved passwords and cookies are encrypted with a key that stays on the old computer.
Passwords. On a computer, go to brave://password-manager/settings and click Download file under Export passwords; Select file under Import passwords reads the CSV on the other side. Delete the CSV afterwards, since anyone with access to the computer can open it.
Remove imported bookmarks
- Open
brave://bookmarksand find the folder the import made: Imported for a file, or the one starting with Imported from for a browser. - Click the three dots next to the folder and choose Delete. To remove several items, Ctrl+click them (Cmd+click on a Mac) and click Delete at the top of the page.
Deleted the wrong folder? Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) in the Bookmark Manager before you close Brave. With Brave Sync on, the delete also reaches your other devices. The Import bookmarks now... line on an empty bookmarks bar goes away once the bar holds one bookmark, or when you hide the bar with Ctrl+Shift+B.
Problems you might hit
- No Imported folder in sight: look at the end of Bookmarks bar in the Bookmark Manager, and see showing the bookmarks bar in Brave.
- Another browser: Brave to Chrome has its own guide, and the same file imports into Firefox and Safari.
Questions

How do I export Brave bookmarks on iPhone (iOS)?
Tap the menu > Show All... > Bookmarks, then the Share icon at the bottom left > Export. Save the HTML file to Files or email it to yourself.
How do I remove imported bookmarks from Brave?
Delete the folder the import created (Imported, or one starting with Imported from) in brave://bookmarks. Ctrl+Z in the Bookmark Manager undoes it while Brave is open.
Can I import a JSON bookmarks file into Brave?
Brave’s importer takes HTML files. Convert a Chrome or Brave Bookmarks file with our JSON to HTML tool and import the result.
How do I move Brave bookmarks to a new computer?
Join both computers to the same Brave Sync chain, or export an HTML file on the old one and import it on the new one. Copying the profile folder leaves saved passwords unreadable, so skip that route.
