Toby vs Workona

Updated 18 October 2026

Both keep your tabs in their own cloud behind an account. Toby is a board of tab collections on your new tab page. Workona is a set of work spaces, each holding the tabs, documents and tasks for one project or client.

Choose Toby if

you think in collections of links you return to, want them visible on every new tab, and share some of them with a team.

Choose Workona if

you jump between projects or clients all day and want each one’s open tabs, docs and to-dos to swap in together. Recent reviews (September 2026) mention it asking to install the extension when it was already installed, and one user losing tabs, so keep its export handy.

Leaving either one

Toby exports JSON, HTML and text; Workona exports your space data as JSON. Our Toby converter and session converter (which reads Workona’s export) turn them into a bookmarks file.

A third option

If what you really want is for saved tabs to turn into something you’ll find again, Stackboard (ours) saves a window as ordinary Chrome bookmarks, one stack per tab group, and lays them out on your new tab page. No account, free and open source; Chrome sync carries the bookmarks and they stay if you uninstall.

No. Both keep your data in their cloud and need you to sign in.

Which is better for teams?

Both have team plans. Toby suits shared link collections; Workona suits teams that work in shared project spaces with docs and tasks.
