How to import Edge favorites into Safari on Mac, iPhone and iPad

Updated 18 October 2026

Export your favorites from Edge as an HTML file, then import that file into Safari. Safari imports directly only from Google Chrome and Firefox, but Apple lists Microsoft Edge among the browsers whose exported bookmark files Safari reads.

Step 1: export favorites from Edge

  1. In Edge, go to edge://favorites. On Windows, Ctrl+Shift+O opens it.
  2. Click More options, the three dots at the top of the page.
  3. Choose Export favorites and save the HTML file. If you exported on a PC, copy the file to your Mac or to iCloud Drive.

Before exporting, it pays to clear out duplicates: Microsoft says Edge’s Favorites menu has Remove duplicate links, and it lets you check each one before it goes. Exporting Edge favorites has more on the export.

Step 2: import the file into Safari on a Mac

  1. In Safari 18 or later, choose File > Import Browsing Data from File or Folder.
  2. Click Choose File or Folder, select the file from Edge and click Import.
  3. In Safari 17 and earlier, use File > Import From > Bookmarks HTML File, select the file and click Import.

Apple says imported bookmarks appear after your existing bookmarks. In Safari 17 they sit in the sidebar below Bookmarks, in a new folder whose name begins with Imported and ends with the date.

Edge favorites and Safari Favorites are different things

The two browsers use the same word for different things, which matters once the import is done:

Other favorites and Mobile favoritesNo matching folders; their links come in with the rest of the file

To rebuild your Edge favorites bar in Safari, open Bookmarks > Edit Bookmarks, find the imported folders at the end of the list and drag the sites you want on the bar into Favorites.

Passwords from Edge

  1. In Edge on your computer, open the Settings and more menu (Alt+F on Windows) and select Passwords.
  2. Click the three dots on that page, choose Export passwords and confirm with Export. Save the CSV.
  3. On the Mac, import it with the Passwords app (File > Import Passwords from File) or with Safari’s Import Browsing Data from File or Folder. Apple says imported passwords go into your iCloud Keychain.
  4. Delete the CSV. Microsoft warns that anyone who can see the file can read the passwords.

Microsoft also says Edge for Android and iOS can’t export passwords, so this step needs Edge on a Mac or PC.

On iPhone or iPad

Start in Edge on a computer. Favorites you saved in Edge on your phone reach it through Edge sync, where Microsoft files them under Mobile favorites, so they’re in the export too. Then:
