What tab bankruptcy means

Tab bankruptcy is closing every open tab at once because there are too many to ever get through, the browser version of declaring email bankruptcy. The relief is real; the risk is losing the handful of tabs you actually needed. More on the term and how to do it safely.

Declare it without losing anything

Before you close everything, save the tabs. Chrome’s Bookmark all tabs (Ctrl+Shift+D) works for one window at a time. Stackboard has a Declare tab bankruptcy button in its toolbar popup: it saves every tab in every window as bookmarks, one stack per tab group, closes them all and shows this certificate with your real numbers.

Questions

How do I count my open tabs in Chrome?

Chrome doesn’t show a total. Tab search (Ctrl+Shift+A) lists every open tab; Stackboard’s popup shows the count across all windows before you stash them.

Is the certificate free to share?

Yes. Save the image and post it anywhere.

Stash every tab, then celebrate

Stackboard saves all your open tabs as bookmarks in one click and lays them out on your new tab page. Free, no account.
